Privacy policy

Snag or Brag is operated by Skyla’s Choice Ltd (“we”, “us”), based in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have over it. We are the data controller for that information under UK data protection law (UK GDPR).

What we collect

Only what the app needs to work:

• Account details — your email address, a securely hashed password, display name, and the trade and region you choose.
• Content you post — photos of your work, captions, comments, and the snag/brag votes you cast.
• Waitlist — if you join from our website, your email address (and any trade/region you give) so we can tell you when the app launches.
• Basic technical data — the requests our servers need to serve the app (such as your IP address in server logs) to keep it secure and working.

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

How we use it

To create and run your account, show your posts to the trade community, tally votes and comments, keep the service safe, and handle reports of abuse or objectionable content. Votes are shown anonymously; your display name appears on your posts and comments.

Who we share it with

We never sell your data. These service providers process it for us, on our instructions, only to run the app:

• DigitalOcean — hosts the service and stores uploaded photos (United Kingdom, London region).
• Sightengine — automatically checks uploaded photos for nudity, weapons and gore before they go live.
• Resend — sends password-reset emails to your email address.
• Expo, Apple and Google — deliver push notifications to your device, and handle Sign in with Apple / Google if you use them.
• Sentry — receives crash reports so we can fix bugs. These carry no name, email or IP address.

Our social media. We may feature a job that has been posted in the app on Snag or Brag’s own Facebook page and Instagram account (its photos, caption, trade, region and the community verdict). Featured posts never show your name or display name. To have a featured post taken down, report it in the app or contact us below.

We may disclose data only where the law requires it.

Security & retention

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and passwords are stored only as a strong one-way hash — we never see your password. We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account (Settings → Delete account) we delete your email address, password, profile, trades, photos, captions and comment text straight away, and sign you out everywhere. The only thing kept is your past snag/brag votes, attached to an anonymous “Deleted user” with nothing that identifies you, so other people’s vote counts don’t change.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can access, correct, export or delete your data. This is built into the app: Settings → Export my data and Settings → Delete account. You can also contact us using the details below, and you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Age

Snag or Brag is for people aged 16 and over who work in, or are connected to, the trades. It is not intended for children.
